But there were two things why I did not like the race in particular - obviously apart of the fact that I had a lousy time... First, there were these blunt long boring straight parts leading through unattractive areas of the city. Well, dont't get me wrong, I don't go crazy for bendy courses and even my favorite Ljubljana Marathon has a straight stretch or two if I recall the shape of the course correctly. But the setup in Bratislava was bit too much. Nevertheless, what really killed me was the surface. Roads and pedestrian walkways that cave in, crazy high curb stones protruding out in all angles, uneven surface, potholes, etc. Am not one to be scared by urban runs. Far from it! Most of my runs in last two years in Prague were done in the city. Which means cobble stones, pavement, concrete and so on. But the quality of the surface in Bratislava was really not good.
Anyway, if I would have been better prepared, get rid of those excessive 3kg and instead of doing all those crazy things week before the race had a bit of rest, this post would be about new Personal Best. But not this time. Lesson learned, so I better stop complaining.
