Start was well managed in 6 groups (took up to 20 minutes for the last sector to cross the line), assisted by police and volunteers, every kilometer clearly marked by the flags.
The race was equally well prepared with 7 refreshment stations - 6 offering water, one Isostar. The course took entire lot through quarters of European institutions, deep into Brussels tunnels, provided colorful reflections in luxurious shop windows at Avenue Louise, cooled the bodies in refreshing, dark Forest, leading back to area around Woluwe St. Pierre. In one word - through Brussels' most beautiful monuments and parks. Weather was fantastic, may be little bit too hot for some. But the crowds did not mind a single bit. Brass bands, people with banners, flags, adults and children - at some places standing three four deep.
And the cheers were very much needed. What would one expect to be a flat race surprised runners with 700m elevation gain. Especially kilometers 17-18-19 were all uphill copying park and lake in Tervuren. Luckily the last one at Merode provided runners with merciful decline towards finishing line.
